Form Function

Resource is a design library, shop, and event series in the Union Market District conceived and curated by Form Function Studio.

Filling the gap between general libraries and specialty bookstores, Resource is a free public space where programming ignites inclusive conversations and design books and magazines are made available to all. During its installation, Resource will serve as an open communal gathering place for the the DC design community and anyone interested in diverse topics related to the use of space and its impact.

Resource is a collaborative project launched by Form Function Studio in partnership with Union Market, Gensler, DC Public Library, Gallaudet University, and Composite Co.

Form Function Studio conceived the concept, created strategy for and procured all partners and sponsorship, provided creative direction for the interior design, curated the furniture selection, sourced all print material, curated the retail shop and facilitated all programing.

Includes a selection of over 500 design books, magazines, and periodicals. All print resources are free to be enjoyed within the space or may be scanned for personal use.

Features dozens of items for sale designed by local artists such as illustrations, photography prints, ceramics and wooden wares, in addition to limited edition custom Resource screenprints.

Invites visitors to experience cross-disciplinary programming showcasing the importance of design in our daily lives. Topics range from typography, DeafSpace, architectural drawing and creative salons.

The library bringing design to the masses...Resource is a pop-up creative space that aims to help people think about design differently — and more often.
